Obituary for Lilla Marie Braun

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lilla, on Monday, April 24th, at the age of 57.

Lilla was born in Sudbury Ontario and arrived in Winnipeg on Thanksgiving Day in 1973. When she lived in Ontario she lived on a farm, outside of Goderich, in the township of Auburn. Whenever she was missing as a little girl, she could be found at the stables with the horses. That is when her lifelong love of animals began. As a youth, the summers where spent at the cabin in St Laurent. She enjoyed spending time with the cousins, exploring, hanging out at the beach, playing hide and seek, and watching Chiller Thriller. Trips in the back of the half ton to the ice cream store was a fond memory she loved to share. Camping and family vacations across Canada sparked her love for adventure and travel. Her dreams of traveling to Rome and Las Vegas where on her bucket list. This was not damped by having a family of her own. A couple of her favorite family trips were to visit family in Southern Ontario and Universal Studios in Florida. She spent time at the cabin in the Whiteshell, and was eager to pass on her love of the outdoors with her children and family. Lilla enjoyed fishing and all things outdoors. She had no fear of bugs and creepy crawly things. Lilla was a crafter of many talents. She enjoyed sharing her wares with family and friends and even sold some at craft shows.

Lilla treasured her family. The love for her children was very evident when her Mama Bear came out. She was extremely proud and quick to share what they were involved in. She always took a lot of interest in her numerous nieces and nephews. She loved spending time with her brothers and sisters and was always found in the middle of the mischief and shenanigans that ensued.

She was predeceased by her siblings Tina Wilson, Dave Johnston, Melonie Bourdeau, mother Jean Johnston, father William Johnston, and step-mother Patricia Johnston.

She is survived by and will be deeply missed by her children Adrien Braun-Yusishen (Max), and Jennifer Braun (Jeanice), brother Bill Johnston (Grace), her many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

A small come and go gathering will be taking place on her birthday May 28th 2023, at the Beau Head Senior Center, 645 Park Ave. Beausejour, Manitoba from noon to five pm.
