Obituary for Manuel Medeiros

It is with profound sadness and broken hearts we announce our beloved Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Brother, Brother-in-Law, and Uncle passed away peacefully at Health Science Centre surrounded by love on Friday, January 13, 2023 at the age of 92.

He was predeceased by his parents, Manuel Do Rego Medeiros & mom Germana Martins & Wife Inez Bernardo Medeiros, with many sisters & brothers.

Manuel (Dad) will be missed by his children: Alda (Richard), Bert, Paula (Corey), grandchildren: Sabrina(Miguel), Kyle, Derrek, Emma, Jaden and great grandaughter Arya

Manuel is survived by his sister-in-law Normanda, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and Godchildren.

Manuel was born in Capelas, Sao Miguel Azores, on October 16, 1930. He married his beloved wife Inez Silva in 1948 and they created a lovely home where they raised 3 beautiful children Alda, Bert & Paula.

In 1970, Manuel made the decision to leave his homeland in search of greater prosperity and immigrated to Canada alone, where he took on odd jobs to save money to bring his loving family to Canada.

Manuel spent his whole life devoted to his family and many of his happiest moments revolved around spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Manuel loved to cook in his spare time and what a cook he was, his first job was a chef at a popular Winnipeg hotel back in the 70's. He enjoyed his grape vines, making wine from scratch, a two week process that made him so happy. He loved to garden where he spent most of his time outdoors in the backyard growing anything that was willing to grow in our winter climate. He was a gentle giant with a heart of gold. Who will be missed immensely by everyone that was lucky enough to cross his path.

The family would like to thank all the doctors and the Emergency health care staff at the Health Science Centre, and the many nurses who came to the house that always went above and beyond to take care of him. Also, to all the homecare staff, the family can never repay those individuals (Rudy, John, Richard and Justin) who took their time to see that our dad was taken care of.

Please help us celebrate this wonderful man's life.

Heaven truly gained an Angel.
