Jorge was born in São Miguel, Azores, Portugal. He immigrated to Winnipeg on March 12th,1965, with
his family when he was nine years old. He was the third youngest of ten children and was raised in the
west end of Winnipeg, then later moved to the Maples. Charlene and Jorge created many memories
with their 40 years together. Some of Jorge’s favourite pastimes included spending afternoons with their
kids around the swimming pool and playing canasta until 4am while listening to his favourite tunes. He
also loved to golf with his friends and family any chance he got. Jorge was a very dedicated and loyal
man, who was the life of the party and had an incredible sense of humour. He was known for his love of
singing and dancing and loved to spend time with his family and friends whenever he could. He earned the name “handy dandy Jorge” for his incredible knack for being able to fix almost anything, for anybody who needed help. Jorge will be best remembered for his kind heart, friendly and welcoming personality.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, January 9th, 2023, at Casa dos Açores, 55 Higgins St. at 2pm. Please join us in commemorating such a wonderful man. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jorge’s memory can be made to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation.
