Obituary for Joseph Michael Szkwarek

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, and Friend on Friday, December 9, 2022 at Holy Family Home at the age of 70.

Joseph was predeceased by his Parents Kazimierz and Rozalia Szkwarek, Son-in-law Mark Motoch, Mother-in-law Doreen Milan, and Brother-in-law Michael Hawrylak.

Left to remember him are his wife Candyce Szkwarek, children Jaclyn Motoch, Joseph (Lindsey) Szkwarek, Kathryn Szkwarek, grandsons Max and Luke Motoch and Patrick Szkwarek, brother Louis (Lucy) Szkwarek, sisters Sofia (Andy) Szukiewicz, Kazimiera (Zbigniew) Zapasek and Maria Hawrylak, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and many good friends.

Joe was born on April 23, 1952 in Ornowo, Poland and immigrated to Canada with his family in 1961. He earned his Health Care Aide certificate early in his career, eventually switching paths to become an Electrician and resident handy man. He married Candyce in 1977, and they went on to have 3 children, all of whom he was very proud. His greatest joy however, were his three grandsons - Joe was a proud Dziadzia and he loved spending time with them. Joe was a life-long member and Past Vice-President of the Holy Ghost Fraternal Aid Society and was past President of Polish Legion #246, roles he took on with great care and responsibility. He loved hunting and fishing and spent many hours on his beloved fishing boat. In later years he enjoyed spending time in his garage repairing various items, cooking, and visiting with friends.

The family wish to extend a sincere thank you to Dr. Babick and the dedicated staff on 5A St Michael’s at Holy Family Home for their compassion and loving care given to Joseph.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

REST IN PEACE JOSEPH
