Obituary for Joan Ethel Neelon (Beedle)

"Throughout the unnumbered ages in Thy presence shall I be and know
the unbroken rapture of companionship with Thee"

Joan was born in London, Ontario. She is survived by Paul (son) and Elaine, Ruth Ann Rowthorn (daughter) and Travis Rowthorn (grandson). Her siblings Jack Beedle (brother) and Diane, Nancy Siemon (sister) and Helmut, Gail (sister) and numerous nephews & nieces.

She was raised and educated there becoming a Laboratory Technician at Victoria Hospital. While at that hospital she met Major Ruth Watkins who took her to The Salvation Army and led her to the Lord and Salvation. She married Alan H. Neelon in 1951 and they raised two children.

Joan was predeceased by Alan, her parents William and Sally Beedle and her infant sister Barbara Ann.

For seven years Alan and Joan served in The United Church in Pastoral Charges in southern Ontario. In September 1960, they along with their children entered The Salvation Army Training College. They were both Commissioned and Ordained as Salvation Army Officers and served for 11 years in various appointments across Canada. In 1971 Joan and Alan came to Winnipeg to serve in The United Church "Halfway Home" program. After service in this capacity Joan became associated with the former Fraser Art Supply store where she was employed for 18 years retiring in 1991.
