Obituary for Allan Indon

Allan Celestino Indon
February 2, 1973 – November 14, 2021

On the snowy morning of November 14, 2021, surrounded by his family, Allan Celestino Indon, at 48 passed away in the MICU of Health Science Center, Winnipeg after being in coma due to Intracranial Hemorrhage.
Allan was born in the town of San Rafael, Bulacan, Philippines on February 2, 1973.

As a child, his siblings agreed he was the apple of the eye. His Mom would argue there is no favorite; it’s just that Allan never answers back and he owns up to his mistakes. He spent most of his childhood in San Rafael, having good times with his siblings and cousins swimming in the local river. He grew up with his aunt “Mommy” Librada(+), while his parents were taking care of his younger brother Noel who was born just 10 months after him.
One memory his siblings would not forget was when they were kids, they broke the television antenna. Scared that they will get in trouble, they bribed Allan with some money to tell their parents that he was the one who broke it. Thinking his parents won’t get mad at him, he did so. Well, it didn’t work and he was in trouble, but he was happy he had the money and he came out a hero to his siblings. Eventually when he got older, he too learned to bribe his younger siblings to do chores for him so he could sleep in.

He studied at St. Paul School in San Rafael from grade school to high school, graduating with Batch 1989. He then received his Bachelor of Science in Agriculture major in Animal Science at the Central Luzon State University(CLSU) in Nueva Ecija, Philippines in 1993. He was a part of the pioneering batch of Alpha Phi Epsilon Fraternity and Sorority, CLSU Chapter.

Right after graduation, his first job was at Sta. Maria, Bulacan as a Farm Technician. He transferred to Cuevas Farm, San Rafael in 1994 as a Farm Supervisor. He found a new break at Liberty Farm, Quezon City to work as a Farm Manager from 1996 to 2004. On September 2004, he was given the opportunity to work in Canada at Puratone (now Maple Leaf Foods). Working in a barn for 25 years, his colleagues saw his dedication and expertise in his chosen trade. He works silently but had always been reliable.
He had helped a lot of people to have better opportunities here in Canada. His friends describe him as a quiet, reserved, but fun guy. Others call him "Kuya" (Big Brother) but most of his friends treat him as a younger brother.

He didn’t really like the outdoors and going out. He would rather get some takeout or cook at home and spend time with the family. He lived a very simple and contented life with few pairs of jeans, enough clothes and one pair of shoes that he would not change until they’re worn out. He does not have the best eyesight but liked playing computer and mobile games. Since he did not wear eyeglasses, he always had a magnifying glass handy in his pocket.

Allan's kids will remember him as a Dad who is sweet and caring, a Dad who never gets mad and is always calm. He was Aileene, Austin, and Alvin's Santa Clause, and John and Christian's best playmate and tutor. He wasn't perfect but he had always tried and in the end, managed to be the father he wanted to be.

He was predeceased by his father, Antonino, in May 2007. He will be lovingly remembered by his Mother, Angelita; ex-wife Aurora, and children Aileene (Randal), Austin and Alvin(Julie); his common-law partner Marichu and children John and Christian; his siblings Noel(Rowena) and Grace(Donovan); his nieces Angel, Nixie, Niña, and Nimfa and many cousins, aunts, uncles, friends, and colleagues here in Canada and in the Philippines.
