Remedios “Nene” Benito has joined our Creator and her husband Gregorio, daughters Cora and Ade, on May 11, 2021, at the age of 90. She passed away peacefully at Grace Hospital in Winnipeg, Canada.
Born in Mckinley, Makati, Philippines on May 10, 1931 Nanay Nene is the only daughter among five siblings. She migrated to Winnipeg, Canada in 1990 and lived with her children Ade, Rosa, Yolly and Rey and became a full time Lola to Kim, Kaila and Kaiden.
A very loving and caring mother and grandmother, Nanay Nene loved the simple pleasures in life. She enjoys watching Filipino teleseryes, so much so that her grandchildren would often kid among themselves that no one can disturb Nanay when she’s tuned in to her teleseryes. She has kept every trinket her grandchildren have given her and would beam in pleasure whenever she is presented with it.
A devout Catholic, Nanay Nene cross-stitched the image of Jesus Christ and gave each one of her children her finished “artwork”. She knows the rosary by heart, would often remind her grandchildren to pray and never missed a Catholic mass especially those celebrated by her son, Fr. Willy. Nanay Nene took care of everyone, even when she’s the one who needs caring. At her age, she would still remind her eldest child, Anita, to take her medicines.
Nanay Nene has lived a full life. She has showered her family all the love they need and more.
She will be missed but her memory lives on.
