Obituary for Cherry Diaz Cruz

Cherry Diaz Cruz
July 19, 1980 – April 3, 2021

Cherry Diaz Cruz was a loving wife, mother, caring daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She has joined our Creator peacefully, leaving this earth knowing that she was abundantly loved and respected on April 3, 2021 at age 40.
Cherry is survived by her husband, Buen Kenneth; two daughters, Chrystelle and Charleigh; fur baby, Milkshake; mother, Corazon; three sisters, Charo, Chiqui and Chona, brothers-in-law, Enrique Peter and John Vergel; two nieces, Christine and Charlene; four nephews, Christian, Chris James, Chris Daniel and Chris Matthew; cousins, uncles and aunts, relatives, friends and colleagues. She was preceded in death by her eldest daughter, Cheyenne Nezon and her father, Orlando Diaz.

Cherry enjoyed listening to soft rock, jazz and country music and suspense and thrilling podcasts, playing Sims 4 and Toon Blast game app as well as reading/listening to fiction pocket books. She’s truly missed through her singing, sharing jokes, giving gifts and surprises to everyone she loved.

As a wife and mother, Cherry made it a point to put her family first. She always thought of her family and their welfare even if she was in pain and she never complained. She was a good mother and proud of her daughters.
Cherry was a caring daughter, sister and aunt. She’s very loving, respectful and obedient towards her mother. She was very supportive and proud of her sisters. She was generous and thoughtful of her nieces and nephews.

Cherry as a nurse and mentor was an educator at heart. She had given competent care to her patients and was never afraid to advocate for them. She dedicated herself in caring for others without something in return. She passed down what she had learned and confident with her answers and taught through experience.

Cherry as a friend was always there for them when they are in need. She always give sound advice and is not biased.

During her last days, it was very difficult for her because she thought of the people she is leaving behind but she found comfort from a verse from the bible: “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” Jeremiah 29:11

The family would like to extend thanks to the wonderful help and comfort given by the Doctors, Nurses and Staff of CancerCare Manitoba McDermot & Urgent Cancer Care Site and St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Unit while battling cancer under their care.

If there is one word that best describes Cherry, it would be selfless. She always thought of others before herself. She is not afraid to sacrifice everything for the people she loved. She sets an example of courage and compassion that inspired everyone who knew her. She will be truly missed.

Family, friends and colleagues are invited to come, reminisce and view her at Mosaic Funeral Chapel – Inkster, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada R2X 1R3, on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, April 9 to 11, 2021, from 4pm – 12 midnight.
