Obituary for Julita Soria

Julita Medrano Soria
June 18, 1954 - December 15, 2020

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our Nanay. She is reunited with her husband of 40 plus years, Isidro, who passed before her.

She is survived by her three children Edgar (Joyce), Edwin (Chastity), Eduard (Princess); and grandchildren Daryll, Sophia, Sierra, Raiden, Andrea and Eliza. Her siblings Fred(Dalisay), Linda, Delfin(Alegria), Sylvia(Gary), Mario, Rebecca(Rey) and Ruben(Jennifer). She was predeceased by her parents Estanislao & Remedios Medrano; Brothers Lito, Ben and Jaime Medrano. Nanay also leaves to mourn her passing a large extended family - aunties, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and friends in Canada, the Philippines, France, Italy and the United States.

Nanay worked as an elementary teacher in the Philippines before moving to Canada in 1995 to be with her family and relatives. She worked as a health care aide at Riverview Health Centre until she retired in 2016. She loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren and enjoyed singing Karaoke. She also enjoyed going back to her homeland every year and the numerous "mini" road trips with her younger brother Mario, younger sister Becky and Sylvia, and her niece Rochelle to US or South beach.

Each of us grew up blessed with a very special bond to our gentle hero. To many she was known as "Manang Julie". She was a great woman who was and is respected by many; a very kind and loving person with a golden heart - but to all of us, she was our "NANAY".

We would like to thank our extended families near and far for their ongoing support, the many individuals who made her life full and gave her lasting memories. We are grateful for the warm messages and prayers.

Due to Covid Restrictions, her memorial service with be kept private among immediate family members. We hope to hold a celebration of her life for all to attend at her one year anniversary as circumstances allow. We thank you for your understanding.

"Come to me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls" Mathew11:28-29
