Rosalio Barrameda Bercasio
June 8, 1923 – July 7, 2020
Rosalio Bercasio died peacefully at the age of 97 on July 7, 2020 at 2:03 in the morning at Grace Hospital. He is predeceased by our mother Segundina. He is survived by children, Patty (Marc) Pascal, Edgar (Lily) Bercasio, Nimfa (Efren) Arbilo, Siegfred Bercasio, Susan (Chito) Tonog, Deanna (Rod) Francisco, Jun Bercasio, Tess (Ruben) Abrenica, Joey (Sarah) Woods, Shirley Jane Bercasio, Mylene (Ronnie) Alcantara, Terese (Armin) Mojica; 23 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
He came to Canada in 1983 and had a chance to work with the Province of Manitoba. As a member of the Filipino community, he had quite a few accomplishments as follows; active member of the Original Filipino Seniors; one of those responsible for making FILCASA a reality presenting to the three levels of our government the need of having affordable housing for Filipino seniors. One of the founders of the Bicol Association, one of the original board members of the then United Housing Coop on Old Commonwealth Path. He lived his life to the fullest by sharing his time and effort to our community.
We wish to thank the staff of St. Joseph Nursing home for making Papa’s stay with them a comfortable one. Also a big thank you to Rev. Fr. Giddins, Rev. Fr. Geoffrey Angeles, Pastor Wendell and to all friends and relatives that offered and still offering prayers and support during this difficult time.
Funeral service “lamay” will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2020 at Mosaic Funeral Chapel, 1839 Inkster Blvd. Winnipeg, MB.
Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Friday, July 17, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 2400 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB. to be officiated by Rev. Fr. Sam Argenziano.
Interment will be at a later date in Valley View Funeral Home & Cemetery, 14644 72nd Avenue, Surrey, BC.
