My husband Harry Beers (GaGa) passed away Monday, June 15, 2020. Harry leaves to mourn his wife Carol (Nanny) we were married for 49 years. His brother Robert and wife Brenda and their children. Also his sister in-law Linda and her husband Dal (Shawn, Adam), brother in-law Randy and his wife Duke. Brother in-law Robbie good friends Norm his wife Kelly and Luke. He sure did not want to leave his daughter and best friend Carrie Anne Bates (5 Squeaker) and her husband Devon, he loves his grandchildren so much and they will miss him a lot Mercy (Tyler), Sierra (Matt), Paige (Anthony) Mackenzie, Kay Dance.
He was born April 4, 1948. He impacked a lot of people’s lives, but now he is out of pain and gone to heaven to be with his son Harry (pigi cron). Keep a spot for Nanny in heaven. We miss you and love you so much. Please contact close friends and family for information.

Only one photo posted so here is the one of Harry and me taking a selfie in the washroom at Dominion Tanners June 1970.

Carol and Carrie Anne: It was with sadness that I just learned about Harry's passing today. Don't know if you will remember me, but I played in Harry's band in the late 1960s and it was he who got me my first paying job at Dominion Tanners 50 years ago. My memories of Harry are sparse as I left the tannery in 1977 to go to the University of Manitoba. Unfortunately, we lost touch with one another. One thing that has always stood out as a memory of Harry was his pride in his new daughter who he named Carrie Anne, after that well known song by the Hollies. Another vivid recollection was at his place in a room that had one entire wall, side to side and floor to ceiling with shelf after shelf of LPs. That was truly impressive to a poor farm kid from the middle of the Interlake Region of Manitoba.

From my time with him at the tannery, I always saw Harry as a hard worker. He was never a slacker and this garnered him a position like lead hand, I think. But he did like his long hair. So I share with you two treasured photos of those days 50 years ago at Dominion Tanners in June 1970. Carrie Anne, you should know that your dad was part of one of the very first selfies taken albeit with a Kodak Instamatic camera and not like the digital cell phones of today.

Carol, my condolences go out to you and your large extended family. Robert, so sorry for the loss of your brother.

If I may at this time and please forgive me if this is not the right time, but I have no other means to show you me now. I'm one year younger than Harry and fortunately still enjoying good health. If you would like to see me, just Google the phrase "Adrenaline Athlete Profile Lionel Bernier" to watch a 22 minute video on YouTube of me & my family in Taekwondo - son and two grandchildren.

My deepest sympathies to Carol and her family in your loss of your beloved Harry and his son. Harry was a great man always so joyful and happy, great D.M. and fellow carrier. Mourn, but remember all the happy memories and good times.
Thinking of you all,
Larry Ober
