Obituary for Florentino Toledo Medina

Florentino Toledo Medina
December 24, 1939 – March 9, 2020

Florentino Toledo Medina, also known as Tatay, Kuya Flor, Mang Tino, Lolo Poy, went home to the arms of our Heavenly Father on March 9, 2020 at the Health Sciences Centre, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
Tatay Tino was born on December 24, 1939 in Bacoor, Cavite, Philippines. He was the second eldest of the family. Seeing how hard life was at the time, he strived to work in the morning and study in the evening to build a better life.
With all of his hard work and diligence, he received his Bachelor's Degree with a major in Accounting and minor in Management. His education served as the key to landing the coveted post as an Auditor in Philippine's Commission on Audit where he worked until 1998. In 2011, Tatay Tino and Nanay Leonila arrived in Winnipeg, Canada, where they spent most of their "senior" life.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 golden years, Leonila Roxas Medina, and their three children - Flordeliza Medina Ponce (Jojo), Alfredo Medina (Thang), and Daniel Medina (Aljan).
Before his passing, he had a total of 8 loving grandchildren who brought joy to his life: Lance, Lauriz, Benjamin, Alfred, Barbie, Alyssa, Kobe and Caleb.
Tatay Tino was known to most as a jokester who also loved singing and cooking. He will be sorely missed.
The Lord has been good to him and he lived a good life. He deserves to rest now with our Maker.
The Medina family would like to thank the medical team at Health Sciences Centre (GH6), Cancer Care Manitoba and the Pallative Program for the care and compassion they exhibited during Tatay Tino’s stay in the hospital, and to all of our friends and church mates who have expressed their love, thoughts, and prayers.
A celebration of Tatay Tino’s life will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2020 at 6pm at Mosaic Funeral Chapel (1839 Inskter Blvd). He will be cremated in Winnipeg, Canada. Interment will follow in the Philippines.
