Romeo Oril Paragas Sr.
September 1, 1954 – February 28, 2020
On February 28, 2020 after a long illness Romeo “Miyong” Oril Paragas passed away peacefully at the Health Science Centre at the age of 65.
Miyong is the first-born son of Laureano and Menina Paragas and was one of nine children.
Romeo emigrated to Canada in 2002 to join his mother and siblings, bringing his family to begin a new life in Winnipeg. He worked for many years at the Clarion hotel providing maintenance services. This was an ideal line of work for Miyong who was always a clever and industrious person and a jack of all trades.
He enjoyed spending time fishing, camping, sharing stories with his brothers Benjie, Raul and Renato. In his younger years Miyong enjoyed singing and playing the guitar.
Romeo was predeceased by his parents Laureano and Menina, brothers Jimmy and Robert. He will be missed by his kids Bernadette (Denis), Romeo Jr. (Ogie), RJ (Sheryl) and Grandchildren (Ezekiel, Camille, Ryder, Jacob and Jericho). He will be lovingly remembered by his siblings Nellie, Belen (Delfin), Ruben (Celina), Raul (Sharon), Renato (Gemolyn) and Elsa (Jason) and his many nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his cousins Sonny (Chrisabel) and family of Winnipeg, Danny (Nelia) Oril and family of Missisauga and Rafael Paragas of Lethbridge.
The family would like to acknowledge and give thanks to the health care professionals, medical team and support staff at Health Sciences Centre who gave Romeo such compassionate care throughout his illness.
Lamay/Viewing will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2020, commencing at 6:00 PM till midnight at Mosaic Funeral Chapel, 1839 Inkster Blvd., Winnipeg, MB.
