Obituary for Italia Santilli

Italia Santilli
June 12, 1935 – February 4, 2020
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Italia Santilli, our beloved Mama, Nonna and Sister, on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 surrounded by her family and loved ones after a long, hard fought battle with heart disease,
Italia was pre deceased by her husband, Pacifico, her parents and two brothers in Italy. She is survived by her sons Angelo(Annette), and Franco(Cheryl), Grandchildren: Jennifer, Anna Maria(Manny), Brandi(Peter) and Angelo(Samantha), Mykayla and Chantel, Great Grandchildren: Connor, Italia, Alessandro, Emilio, Christian, Elise, Zachary and Emily. She is also survived by her sister, Maria and family.
Italia was born June 12, 1935 in San Benedetto Dei Marsi , L'Aquila Italy. She immigrated to Canada in December 8, 1964 with her beloved Pacifico, three year old son, Angelo and Franco. Pace's barber shop was not only unique because of its men only shop, Italia brought an out of the way experience for her espresso, homemade biscotti and love for customers who were more like family. Anyone who walked through the door, was always offered if not forced to "mangiare", you would never leave her house on an empty stomach. Those fortunate enough to come on bread making day, would be in for quite the treat. The smell of fresh bread would last for hours and Mama would always make a pizza, which was her favourite food.
Some of Mama's passions were sewing, cooking, sitting out in the sun, gardening, fishing and laughing with her grand and great-children. Italia's family was everything to her and if you didn't call her at least once a week, you would be sure to get a phone call from her just saying hi.
Her greatest joy was and always will be her family. Sunday lunches at Mama's will always be a memorable tradition.
Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at Holy Rosary Parish with Fr. Sam Argenziano presiding. Family will receive Condolences starting at 10:00am followed by Service at 11:00am.
A Huge Thank You to the Nurses and Staff of Palliative Care at St Boniface Hospital and to Dr. B. Young for his compassion and care of our Mama and Nonna.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St Boniface Hospital Foundation or Heart and Stroke Foundation.
