Obituary for Harry Henkewich

Harry Henkewich
January 6, 1931 – December 30, 2019
It is with great sadness, that I lost my Dad on Dec. 30. 2019. My dad was born to Haifia and Metro Henkewich, January 6th, 1931. He was educated in Poplar Park and eventually moved to the City of Winnipeg. However, he never really left his roots on the farm. He was a lifetime member of Saint John's Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Church at Poplar Park, Manitoba. Also, a member of A.A. Foundations, the Nor-end Group, and spoke to people in Stony Mountain Penitentiary and Bill Mosinako's Bowling alley.
Harry is survived by his wife Elizabeth (Betty) nee (Ducharme), daughter Daphne Henkewich (Jim) Grandson Tyler, brother Steve (Diane) and sister Anne and numerous nieces and nephews and many friends. He was predeceased by his parents Haifia and Metro, his brothers, William, Nicholas, Michael, John and his sisters Mary and Kay. He was also predeceased by brothers-in-law Peter and Johnny and Bill and sister-in-law Marion.
Harry, in his younger years, worked as a self contractor during the summer, and a cab driver in the winter months. Later he would go on to being a Sales person for Elextrolux Vacuums (25 years). Harry was a very good salesman, and later would be become a branch manager for Steinbach location. Harry met good friends with Elextrolux and later went into business with his good friend Chris. My father enjoyed family time, card playing, hunting and fishing, bowling, music, and playing pool, also, playing tricks on people. He had a very good sense of humor and liked to make people laugh. My dad, would be there for anyone that needed help. Whether it be family, or for a friend.
My dad will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him. There will never be anyone like him. He was a good husband, a father and grandfather, brother, and friend.
Mom and I love you dad very much and you will be missed every day for the rest of our lives. There will be no other man like you. You are now an Angel in heaven. God bless you forever. Until we meet again. R.I.P.
