Peacefully on October 5, 2019 with her family on her side Antonia passed away at the age of 90, at St. Boniface Hospital.
Antonia is predeceased by her husband Donato, her parents Vito Amico and Carmela Valluzzi, sisters Lucia and Anna and her brother Giovanni Amico, father-in-law Salvatore Pellettieri and mother-in-law Maria Giuseppa Paterno, and all other in-laws from Canada and Italy.
Left to cherish her memory are daughters Josie (Mario), Raimondi, Carmela (Giovanni) Amico and son Salvatore Pellettieri, grandchildren Luciano (Kristin), Angelo and Vito-Carlo Amico, Donato and Katherine Pellettieri and great grandchildren Nicholas, Luke and Isabella Amico and one sister Donata Cammarota in Italy, many nieces and nephews to mention.
Antonia was born on June 14, 1929 in Castelmezzano, Italy. On December 7, 1950 Antonia married Donato Pellettieri. In 1962 they left Italy and immigrated to Switzerland with their three children.
In 1967 Mom and Dad with the three of us came to Winnipeg, Canada to join Dad’s three brothers and their families, and to give us a better future and opportunities. Antonia was a very hardworking woman who enjoyed gardening and cooking. She also worked full time in the Garment Industry and Misericordia hospital until she retired in 1989. Her passion for life was fully dedicated to family and her grand and great grandchildren.
The family wishes to express their sincere thanks and gratitude to Zia Lucia and Zio Rocco for their continuous love, kindness and support as well as to other immediate and extended families and friends.
The family also extends their appreciation and gratitude to Homecare staff and all nurses, to the Ambulatory services, Doctors and staff at St. Boniface Hospital Emergency Department for their help, kindness and compassion.
Condolences will be offered at 10:00am on October 11, 2019 at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Ave. Winnipeg MB with the Mass of Resurrection to follow at 11:00 am to be presided by Rev. Father Sam Argenziano.
Entombment will follow in the Holy Angel Mausoleum, Green Acres Memorial Gardens at No. 1 Highway East off Navin Road.
Celebration of Antonia’s life or reception will be held at the Holy Rosary Church Hall after Entombment.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Charity of your choice.
