Bob recently sent me an inspirational poem called "The Afterlife". The special part of this story is that the poem had been sent to him from his cousin, Cyril Roy Sharman (my brother) who happened to be in the advanced stages of terminal cancer. Bob told me that this poem made him laugh and gave him inspiration during his own struggles with cancer that helped lighten his darker days. Bob always managed to find the time to call his aunt and uncle, Roy and Mary Sharman, and share memories of Moose Lake and the family. Dad really liked sharing memories and debating the status of the "Blue Bombers" and "Winnipeg Jets".

The Afterlife...

A couple made a deal that whoever died first would come back and inform
the other of the afterlife. The biggest fear was that there was no
heaven.

After a long life, the husband was the first to go, and true to his
word, he made contact.

"Martha...Martha...."

"Is that you, George?"

"Yes, I've come back like we agreed."

"What's it like?"

"Well, I get up in the morning, I have sex. I have breakfast, I have
sex. I sun bathe, then I have sex twice. I have lunch, then sex pretty
much all afternoon. After supper, I have sex until late at night.
The next day it starts again."

"Oh, George you truly must be in heaven."

"Not exactly, I'm a rabbit in Saskatchewan."

Bob, it is your time to now rest in peace - Shelly, Terry and Heather Whiteside.

You brought a smile to our neighbourhood and set a high bar for the rest of us. I will always remember our conversations.
Neither death nor time will ever be enough to erase the memories of those happy times we shared here on earth together.
Rest in peace Bob,
John

My dear friend,

Many years ago we met and became friends when we worked together in Calgary and our friendship has continued and matured ever since.

“Death ends a life, not a relationship.” ― Mitch Albom

And a few other quotes from those wiser than me:

"Death is a delightful hiding place for weary men." ― Herodotus

"Death never takes the wise man by surprise, he is always ready to go." ― Jean de La Fontaine

"May we live respected and die regretted." ― Author Unknown

I am now and will continue to miss you Bob,
Michael
