Obituary for Angela Romeo

Angela Romeo
(née Pingitore)
May 17, 1922 – July 17, 2019

Peacefully, at Grace Hospital, Angela Romeo (née Pingitore) passed into eternal rest at the age of 97. Angela was born on May 17, 1922 in Amato (Catanzaro), Italy. In 1945, Angela married the love of her life Antonio Romeo and they had four children together: Serafina, Giuseppe (Joseph), Giovanna (Jo-Anna), and Francesco (Frank). Angela and Antonio were married for a joyous 72 years.
In 1954, when Antonio left for Canada, Angela stayed in Amato to raise their four children on her own. After nine long years the family was reunited in Canada, where they would start their new life together. Angela continued to show her strength as she cared for her young family in a new and foreign country. Over the years Angela and her family built a beautiful life in the country they now called home.
Angela enjoyed spending time with her family (in particular her grandchildren and great grandchildren), visiting Italy, making memories at their family cabin in St. Malo, cooking with vegetables from her garden, and watching her favourite day time soap operas.
Angela was predeceased by her loving husband: Antonio; parents: Luigi and Giovanna; her siblings: Pietro (Angela) and Marianna (Mario); her son-in-law Francesco Cappellano; great granddaughters: Charlotte and Elizabeth Kuzminski, and many other members of her extended family.
Left to cherish her memory are: her daughter Serafina Cappellano in Italy, her son Joseph (Maria Girimonte), daughter Jo-Anna (Aldo Guerra), and son Frank in Winnipeg.
Nonna will be remembered with love by her grandchildren; Pietro, Antonio (Katia) and Dario (Rosanna) Cappellano in Italy, and in Winnipeg, Francesca (Frank Gallo), Angela (Marceli Walczak), Angela (Christopher Kuzminski), and Anthony (Gillian) Romeo.
She will also be remembered by her great grandchildren: Cristian, Mattia and Nicoló Cappellano in Italy, Matthew and Daniel Gallo, Elaina and Andreas Walczak, Michael Kuzminski, Joseph and James Romeo in Winnipeg.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at 11:00 am at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Avenue, with Father Sam Argenziano Presiding. Prior to mass, condolences can be offered to the family between 10:00 am and 11:00 am. Entombment to follow at Chapel of Eternal Memories Mausoleum, 1501 Waverley Street.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Boniface Hospital Foundation (NICU) in memory of Angela’s great granddaughters Charlotte and Elizabeth Kuzminski.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Francesca and Frank Gallo, Angela and Marceli Walczak, Angela and Christopher Kuzminski, Anthony and Gillian Romeo and great grandchild Matthew Gallo.
Per sempre nei nostri cuori.
