Obituary for David Arnold Kennedy

David Arnold Kennedy
August 18, 1947 – July 5, 2019
It is with great sorrow that we announce the unexpected and sudden passing of David on Friday, July 5, 2019. He leaves to mourn his wife Silvia Visintin, his brothers Greg, Tim (Aimee), Robert, John (Donna), his sisters Susan and Mary Jane (Blake Lefort). his nephews Derek, Landon, and Taylor Kennedy, Reilly Lefort, Leo and Alexander Visintin, his nieces Lindsay Sullivan (Joe), Hilary Lefort, Hailey Kennedy and Emma Visintin, brother- in -law Bruno Visintin (Paulette), mother- in- law Laura Visintin, special friend Adam (Tara) as well as many cousins, extended family and very good friends in Ottawa and Winnipeg.
He was predeceased by his parents Anne and Leo Kennedy, his brother Charles (Chuck), and his father- in- law Romeo Visintin.
David was born in Ottawa the first of eight children born to Anne and Leo Kennedy. He grew up in a loving, large extended family of many uncles, aunts and cousins.
David was free- spirited and adventurous. He lived in Florida for a brief time and in Calgary for seven years. In 1984 with best buddy, Don Lewis he ended up in Winnipeg. He started a new career and in October of 1984 he met Silvia cementing Winnipeg as his home. They were married in 1988.
David worked at Standard Aero for 24 years retiring in 2010. Retirement years were spent organizing golf games in the summer, trips to warm places including his annual golf trip to San Antonio with his buddies, and just relaxing at home. He loved sports and was an enthusiastic fan of football, baseball and the Winnipeg Jets. If he wasn`t golfing, fishing or watching sports he would be reading.
David was a good listener and it made him a great friend. He had a joyous laugh that came from his heart. He enjoyed family and friends gatherings with a good glass of something in his hand. He was loyal and cared about the friends he had made along the way. He was a caring and supportive husband and patient when Silvia would rattle on in Italian with her mother without providing any translations which occurred often.
The family will receive condolences at 10:00 am followed by Mass of the Resurrection on Thursday, July 11, 2019 at 11:00 am at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Avenue, Rev Father Sam Argenziano presiding.
