Obituary for Corinne Clara Prescott

CORINNE CLARA PRESCOTT
February 25, 1924 – June 23, 2019

After a brief, sudden illness Corinne Prescott (neé Decelles) passed away peacefully Sunday June 23rd at the age of 95 with family by her side. Corinne passed the same way she lived, with quiet strength, faith and serenity.

Born on February 25, 1924 in Welwyn Saskatchewan to Augustin Decelles and Méralda Côté. Left to cherish her memories are four daughters Hélène (Alain), Marie, Lucy (Peter) and Anita (Frank), two sons Réné (Pauline), Ernest (Susan), fourteen grandchildren, thirteen great grand-children, and five great-great grand-children, brother Gérard, two sisters-in-law Anna and Thérèse, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Corinne was predeceased by her husband Rosaire, two sons Robert and Gérard, two sisters Lorette and Stella, and a brother Gilles.

Corinne had sharp mind throughout her life, was an excellent student, graduated in 1942, married November 13, 1943 and as was tradition, started a family that now spans five generations. They owned a farm in St Lazare MB until they moved to a St. Boniface bungalow in 1967, Corinne moved to l’Accueil Colombien in 2014.

Corinne’s unwavering faith gave her strength to overcome many struggles including refusing to let lifelong chronic arthritic pain slow her down. Once her family was raised, she studied nursing and joyfully worked in Labour and Delivery at the St. Boniface General Hospital. She is remembered for her dedication and gentle nature.

Corinne’s accepting nature, gratitude and serenity made her very special. There was always room around the table with delicious food to share. Corinne would hum as she worked, always in perpetual movement, baking, sewing, quilting, knitting, gardening, crosswords, puzzles, playing cards with family. Doing for her family brought her joy.

The family wishes to thank aunt Anita for the care and support she gave to mémère. Special thanks to Centre Taché, Dr. Fontigny, Father Léo, Sister Cécile, the spiritual team, the nurses, aides and all staff who gently cared for her since February 2018.

At her request, cremation has already taken place and a memorial service will be held at Mosaic Event Centre, 1006 Nairn Ave., Winnipeg, MB. July 8, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Matthew Mark Columbarium in the Garden of the Four Apostles at Green Acres Memorial Garden.

A limb has fallen from the family tree
I hear a voice that whispers, ''Grieve not for me'
Remember the best times, the laughter, the songs
The good I lived while I was strong
Continue my heritage, I'm counting on you
Keep on smiling, the sun will shine through.
My mind is at ease, my soul is at rest
Remembering all... how I was truly blessed
Continuing traditions, no matter how small
Go on with your lives, don't stare at the wall
I miss you all dearly so keep up your chin
Until that fine day we're together again.
