Angelosante Salomone
September 27, 1935 – June 14, 2019
Angelo was born in Guardiagrele Italy on September 27, 1935. He started working when he was a young man after his father passed away at an early age to support his family.
At age 21, in 1957 he made his first trip to Canada, he worked and returned to Italy In 1960 to marry the love of his life Giulia on new year’s eve of that year. Shortly after getting married, his sense of adventure, love of Canada and recruiting by Canadian Pacific Railways brought him back to Canada.
In Canada, Angelo started working in Vermillion Bay Ontario, where he also built his first family home with the help of his wife, friends and his godfather. Angelo did everything from building the structure, digging the well, plumbing, wiring and finishing the inside. As children we spent many hours with dad watching while he built things, fixed our cars or fixed things around the house. Always taking pride in his work and wanting to do things for his family, he taught us all how to be handy, and independent. No job was to hard or too big for Angelo.
When he wasn't working or fixing things, he liked to be outdoors or in his garage, he liked fishing, welding, and sharing meals and spending time with his family. It always brought him great joy to spend time with his grandchildren.
He worked for Canadian Pacific Railways for 33 years. Because of his skills and abilities, he was promoted and transferred over his career several times. He retired as a Roadmaster in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
On June 14th, 2019 our beloved Angelo; husband, dad and grandpa passed away. Angelo loved and wanted to live and like everything else he did he tried very hard to fight the illness that eventually took his life. Angelo will be dearly missed and remembered by his wife Giulia of 58 years, his children Tony, Luisa (husband Lawrence and their children; David and Marilena), and Sandra (husband Tony and their children; Max and Alex).
