Obituary for Alejandro Macaraeg

Alejandro Macaraeg
January 13, 1950 – February 21, 2019

Alejandro Macaraeg Jr. age 69 of Winnipeg, Manitoba passed away suddenly on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at 2:15pm in the Medical Intensive Care Unit at Health Sciences Center. Alejandro was born in the Philippines and was the third oldest of four children. He recently just celebrated 17 years of a successful liver transplant on February 18, 2019.
Alejandro was one of the youngest political councillors in Barangay Tarlac. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (A.B) in Political Science in Manuel L Quezon University. Later in life, he was a International Tennis Instructor of USNTA. He also taught piano lessons during his spare time while composing his own music which he then later taught others.
With his passing, the things which will be missed most about Alex as he was known to all his friends is the kindness he showed towards the people who knew him and for those who didn’t. As well as his compassion for helping those who needed help. He also joked around with others which would make everyone laugh and smile even when the jokes weren’t funny. You couldn’t help but not laugh.
Once the weather would start to let up and the pavement was dry outside; along with the tennis court nets being set up, Alex could always be found at Sargent Park tennis courts; tennis racquet in hand along with a basket full of tennis balls. If he wasn’t out on the tennis courts, you could find him sitting outside in a lawn chair on his front yard and when the weather wasn’t great you could hear him playing his piano keyboard or composing his own music. Tennis was a passion of Alex’s as well as music.
Alex is survived by his beloved wife Yolanda (Cabrera) of Winnipeg and her daughter Rachael with Larissa and Jacob Wolfrom, along with his sons George (wife Janna with Lemuel and Samuel),Oliver (wife Annie with Cyrone, Cedric, Cadence, Carter and Jet-Lincoln) and their mother Warlita, his older brother Mario (wife Mila with Cristina and her husband John, Cristopher and wife Theresa with Camilla Vanessa) his sister Fe (husband Valiant with Gener and Imelda her husband Caloy and Juvy, and Berlin and his wife Marlyn, Eleonor and Cristopher wife Rachel) and his youngest brother Franco (with Raymond and his wife Jane). Along with his numerous great grand nieces and nephews.
We would like to take a moment to say thank you to all the doctors and nurses at Health Sciences Center ;firstly in the ER at bed 9 then on G4 room 428 bed 5 and lastly the Medical Intensive Care Unit bed 3 for all their caring and comfort. None of this would have been possible without their help and support throughout his stay at Health Sciences Center. You are all wonderful people and do a great job day in and day out.
To all Alex’s family and friends, without any of you he would not have been the person who he was. Each and everyone of you have made a lasting impression on his life as he has on yours. Thank you for celebrating his life with us today.
