Obituary for Sheldon Scott Jones

Sheldon Scott Jones
October 2, 1964 – December 10, 2018

After a courageous battle with cancer, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a great father, a special Paw Paw, our brother, and a wonderful friend. Sheldon is predeceased by his father Weston, mother Lucy, sister Sharon, brother Billy.

Sheldon will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his special friends Val, Steve, daughter Ashley, Kevin step-son, grand-children Jayden and Kaleb, siblings Karen, Candace, Heather (Dwight), Holly (Bob), Brian (Kelly) brother in-law Rick Lawrence, Jennifer, Michael (Hannah & Hazel), Jordan, Brenda (Kingsley) and numerous nieces and nephews, and special friends.

Sheldon was born in Moncton, New Brunswick where he lived there for 12 yrs. The Jones family moved to Winnipeg when he was 13 years old. Sheldon attended high-school at Tec-Voc. He started working at Borland Construction from 1986-1998. Sheldon attained his formal education with the Red River College where he excelled in attaining the honour roll in both Health Unit Clerk and Health Care Aide. His education allowed his to work in the various departments of the health field.

Sheldon loved adventure and traveling and animals. He also had a passion for carpentry and working with wood. He loved being out-doors, cycling, walking, swimming, dancing and canoeing. Sheldon had a great fondness for golfing, and driving out to Hill Side Beach with his good friend Mike. Numerous travelling trips, Sheldon and Rick made back to their home land the Maritimes. He enjoyed yard work very much. He had a love for helping others and had a very kind and caring heart. He was a loving compassionate man with a heart of gold. Even in his final days of his battle with cancer he was not discouraged,” I fought an excellent fight; I have finished my race; and I have kept my faith.” His love for family and friends will be forever cherished for those who knew Sheldon. No formal funeral Service will be held as per his wish.

Celebration of Sheldon`s life will take place at East Elmwood Community Centre, 490 Keenleyside Street, Winnipeg, Friday, December 14 ,2018, 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
