Obituary for Margery Lloyd

Margery Phyllis Lloyd
November 2, 1930 – October 15, 2018

Margery Phyllis (Oickle) Lloyd passed away suddenly and peacefully at her home on Oct 15th, 2018 at the age of 87 after a short courageous battle with cancer.

Left to forever cherish Margery's memory are her family, son Richard (Rick) Lloyd (Jenny), son Kenneth (Ken) Lloyd, granddaughter Caitlin Frankton, great grandson Keenan and daughter Cynthia (Cindy) Haines (Eric) and grand children Shawn Haines, Beth Haines and Josh Haines, great grand children Jayden & Bridgitt Haines, Margery was born on Nov 2, 1930 in Milton Nova Scotia and married Richard B Lloyd (Dick) from Liverpool Nova Scotia. She moved to Winnipeg to follow her husband who joined the Military in 1956. Over the years Margery was a devoted wife that watched over her children as Richard served his country. After the sudden passing of her husband in 1994 Margery stayed in Winnipeg with her family but often traveled "home" to visit the rest of her family in Nova Scotia. When in Nova Scotia, she always stayed with her baby sister Joyce and husband Graham Swann from Hammonds Plains, Nova, Scotia. During those visits, they would travel to Liverpool, Nova Scotia to visit the rest of her brothers, Alan & Lena Oickle, Malcom and Cora Oickle, Royce and Marion Oickle, Lyman & Linda Oickle, Vincent & Lela Oickle, Mervyn & Sandra Oickle, all from Milton or Liverpool N.S., and sisters Eleen Himmelman of Bridgewater N.S. Elaine & Wayne Jennings of Dartmouth N.S.,
This summer (2018) Margery, escorted by her son, Rick, made one last trip home at the age of 87 for one more visit.
Margery had a very special relationship with her son Ken and grand daughter Caitlin, looking after and out for one another over the last 20 years. Margery was often more than just "nanny" to a little girl, she was a mom.
Margery enjoyed spending time with her best friends, Roy & Sadie Stockley (Winnipeg) and spent many weekends going out for supper Friday or Saturday night at Smitty's and weekend shopping trips to Walmart.
One of her favorite meals to prepare included homemade brown bread, meatloaf and baked beans. Everyone loved this meal, especially great friends Joe & Marion Vallard who would travel from Shilo for Joe's favorite meal and a great visit.
Margery's favorite pass time was crocheting blankets, tea towels and slippers for family and friends over the years.
She was known for being funny, her red hair, fiery and stubborn attitude and never took no for an answer.
She is finally back with the love of her life (Dick). Heaven is lucky to have her and we will all miss her!!
