Obituary for Gesualdo Cicco

Sadly, after a lengthy illness, Gesualdo Cicco passed away on Tuesday May 8, 2018 with his wife of fifty nine years at his side. Gesualdo was a gentle soul, full of faith, love, and compassion. He had a heart of gold and placed great importance on helping those in need. His priority was always his family, as family values were at the core of his being. Gesualdo took on many important roles in the lives of others; loving son, brother, cousin, uncle, father, and nonno. Gesualdo was born on January 17, 1924 in San Mango D’Aquino, Provencia di Catanzaro, Italy. Gesualdo grew up during the depression and was relied upon as the eldest of five children. After serving in the army, he returned home and began an apprenticeship as a cobbler. In 1959, he married his wife Ivonne and shortly thereafter,
immigrated to Canada in search of opportunity and better prospects for his family. When he arrived in Winnipeg Manitoba, he acquired a job at Western Rawhide, where he worked until his retirement, after which he
devoted the rest of his life to his family, and grandchildren. He spent
several years as a resident of Fort Rouge and Charleswood where he
enjoyed the company of wonderful neighbours. He is predeceased by his parents Antonio and Maria, a brother, Mario, and sisters Saveria, Faustina, and Albina. He is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Ivonne, his
daughter Maria, her children Alyssa and Michael (Ashley), his sons
Vincenzo, and Tony. Gesualdo will be remembered by many relatives
in Winnipeg and abroad. Our family would like to extend a warm thank you to Cancer Care Manitoba, The Grace Hospital 5th Floor North, and many thanks to Doctor Ip, who went above and beyond to provide care and compassion for our family. In addition, we would like to thank The Grace Hospital 3rd Floor South, and the palliative team for their
compassionate care. We are also very appreciative of the excellent care from homecare providers. Condolences will be offered at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church 510 River Avenue, Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Father Sam Argenziano presiding. A private entombment will follow the Mass at Chapel of Eternal Memories Mausoleum 1501 Waverley Street, Winnipeg Manitoba. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in
Gesualdo’s name to Cancer Care Manitoba.
