Obituary for David Adrian Madden

David Adrian Madden
David Adrian Madden
March 5, 1934 – January 29, 2018
With gratitude for the gift of his life, the family of David Adrian (Dave) Madden, announce his death on Monday, January 29 at Deer Lodge Centre at the age of 83 years.
Dave will be lovingly remembered by his son David, wife Deneen, children Jaren (Rachelle) and Ryler. Son Jean-Pierre, children Catlin and Julia and their mother Aileen; by his brother John and his sisters Brigid, Eileen and Sheila.
Dave was predeceased by his wife Bertha, his parents Julia and Michael Madden and his sister Mary.
Born March 5, 1934 in Swan River, Manitoba, Dave attended Kelwood Consolidated School, and then Manitoba Technical Institute (MTI) in Winnipeg where he earned his certificate in diesel mechanics.
Dave’s working life began at age 19 working for CN Rail installing telephone lines in Northern Ontario, followed by his study at MTI which led to a 44-year career at Standard Aero Engine starting in 1956. Beginning as a shop mechanic he progressed steadily throughout his career at Standard Aero. Respected by all and a mentor to many, he held several management positions and finished his career in 1999 as Director of Training and Safety. This role gave him tremendous satisfaction and allowed him to pursue his passion of teaching. His gift of making the complex understandable was evident to all. Dave had an enduring impact on many of the employees of Standard Aero.
Through much of his working life, Dad was a weekend farmer which kept him close to the work he was born into. It was more than just a hobby for him and it drew on his great strengths of hard work and mechanical genius.
After retiring dad continued to repair and renew, be it his vehicle or home he was most often working on some project. When not hard at work, dad enjoyed being outside, playing golf.
A celebration of Dave’s life will be held at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Ave. on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at 10:30 am. An opportunity to greet the family will commence at 10:00 am. Father Sam Argenziano, a special friend of the family, will preside at the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:45 am.
Interment will be in the family plot at Assumption Cemetery (Portage Ave. West) at a later date.
For those who desire, a donation in memory of Dave may be made to either The Missions Fund Sisters of Our Lady of the Missions, 393 Gaboury Place, Winnipeg, MB R2H 0L5 or to The Heart & Stroke Foundation, 1379 Kenaston Blvd.
