Peacefully on Thursday, September 22, 2016 with his wife by his side, Raymond lost his 22 month battle with cancer, he was 64 years old.
He was the loving husband of Pat for 36 years, son-in-law of Eleanor Repa, brother-in-law of Jerry and Diane Chernecki, uncle of Michael (Nicole), and brother of Dale Johnson. Ray also leaves behind cousins, many friends and their families.
Raymond was predeceased by his father Raymond, mother Pat, grandparents, aunts, uncles and father-in-law Mike Repa.
Ray was employed by Modern Dairies for 30 years and at his passing had been a dispatcher with Canada Cartage for 13 years.
Raymond loved all sports and in his younger days competed in football, baseball and 10 pin bowling. He was always at the Wellness Institute working out when his work schedule allowed.
He enjoyed McPhillips Street Casino, often being lucky. He would accumulate so many points that he and Pat often had many meals there courtesy of the Casino.
Whenever you called or went to their home you could count on Ray watching CNN. To say that this channel was a staple in their home would be an understatement. At times, well, maybe all the time, it drove Pat crazy. Too bad she wasn’t a drinker otherwise the Liquor Commission would have had a regular customer.
Ray was liked by all and has left a huge void in our lives. Never will he be forgotten.
Raymond wanted everyone to know how special the times meant to him when he was with family and friends. Thank you for the memories.
A special thank you to the doctors and nurses at CancerCare Manitoba and Riverview Health Centre for their care, support and compassion shown to Raymond and Pat.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 11:30 A.M. from Mosaic Funeral Chapel and Reception Centre, 1839 Inkster Blvd. Winnipeg, MB.
In lieu of flowers, it was Ray’s wish for donations to be made to the Children’s Wish Foundation Manitoba Chapter, 350 St. Mary Ave., Winnipeg, MB. R3C 3J2
