Condolence From: WGH/HSC Alumni

Condolence:
We were saddened to hear of Helen’s passing just days after her “100th Birthday Bash/Party”. Helen will be remembered for her full engagement with life and the world. She was a regular attendee at Alumni Homecomings and very proud of being a member of the Alumni. In 2013 she was one of the Nominees for the YMCA Women of Distinction in recognition of her contributions to her community over the course of her then 95 years. In 2015 she was made a Honorary Life Member of the Alumni Association in recognition of her service to nursing and community. She nursed for 25 years in Reston, Manitoba while raising her family as a single parent. We will miss her and the sparkle in her eyes as she spoke.

Condolence From: Margaret Elbow Conn

Condolence: Geography keeps much of this large family apart physically but love and caring binds us together across the miles. My aunt Helen gave us a wonderful chance to reinforce those bonds at her splendid 100th birthday party. Now I imagine her happy reunion with her sister Meg, my mum, who died in September. I hope Helen's zest for life continues in each of us. She will always be close in my heart, especially as I do jigsaw puzzles and long road trips.
