Obituary for Tommasina Aiello (Sposato)

Early morning on September 25, 2017, our Nanna Tommasina passed away quietly in her sleep at the Poseidon Care Centre. Born in San Mango d'Aquino, Italy, on Nov. 1, 1915, Tommasina emigrated to Winnipeg in 1965
and made it her home. Her strong will and tenacious personality were admired by all who knew her. Even at the ripe old age of 101, she continued to impress everyone with her feisty spirit. She had a long and wonderful life and there was no task too big or too small she would not take on. It is safe to say that domestic work never charmed her as much as working the land and being in the great outdoors. She took great pride in her many accomplishments, her homes in Italy, her matchmaking skills as well as the varying career paths she chose to explore throughout her lifetime. She finally retired in 1991.
We are proud of how Nanna Tommasina navigated through the last few years of her life and kept her dignity right to the end.
She will be sadly missed by her son Alberto and his wife Carmela; her grandchildren, Mario Aiello (wife Silvia nee: De Luca) and Sina Aiello (husband Russ Psooy); her great grandchildren Katherina, Jessika and Olivia. Tommasina also leaves behind her extended family in Winnipeg, British Columbia, Australia and Italy.
We would like to thank all the staff and caregivers at The Poseidon Care Centre for their service and support and a special thanks to the residents who became her friends. We know she will be warmly remembered and respected by all as Mamma Tommasina.
Your journey here is done.... May you rest in peace Nanna and be united with your beloved husband Ernesto, our heavenly Father and all the Saints who lovingly watched over you.
A private family service will be held in San Mango d'Aquino, Italy in the coming months.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society.
